To Market, to Market…

Last week was the Fall Apparel & Accessories Market at AmericasMart in Atlanta. This is an event I spend weeks working towards in terms of preparing new collections, sending out marketing information and also reaching out to my buyers. It means a lot of late nights and early mornings.

Exhibiting at the Apparel Market is an incredible way for me to connect with my current retailers and also discover new potential buyers to work with.

Every Market at which I exhibit means another lesson learned. I feel like I am continually learning what it means to be a business owner, from the big things to the smallest details. Although there are many truly awesome and helpful books out there to give guidance and wisdom when it comes to operating a business, nothing can compete with real experience. A.k.a. just getting out there and doing your thing, sink or swim.



The first time I exhibited was in the Summer of 2015 and every market has felt different since. I never know who I am going to meet or the conversations I might have. Fortunately, I have had amazing people surrounding me with the showroom I work with, that help encourage and advise me. Working with The Jolley Showroom as truly helped bring my company to another level and besides the fact that Carly and Andee are true professionals in their industry, they are also just all around awesome people as well.


1002090705Regardless of how challenging it is on a day-in, day-out basis to run this company, one of the main reasons I love what I do is because of the people I get to work with. Two words: the buyers. I get the pleasure to work with some of the most wonderful, genuine and energetic people. Every store I work with is different, from the brands they carry, to their store aesthetic and personality. Its a pleasure to see what pieces they like from the collection and how they merchandise it in their stores.

Just like most things in life, it really isn’t always exactly what you do, but who you do it with and who crosses your path along the way. The Jolley Showroom and all the buyers I have met because of them, have brought both joy, professional experience and growth to my small company and that is something I will never take for granted.
