I’m beginning a new series and I am super excited to share about it. Starting monthly I will be highlighting a product from the collection and sharing the inspiration behind it. I’ll be chatting about the materials, the design process and ways to style the piece. The hashtag #MJDStudioSpotlight will be used on Instagram, so overtime it will be easy to look through the various product spotlights and discover a new item!
This month I’m featuring one of my favorite pieces: The Mixed Metals Layering Necklace. I love versatile jewelry, something you can take from day to night easily, and this design does just that.
I like mixing elements, textures and colors. With this piece I wanted to keep the overall style neutral so that it could be worn with almost anything.
While the necklace may be neutral in color it is far from boring. The piece is made with Gold Pyrite, Labradorite, Iridescent Moonstone, Fresh Water Pearls and a vintage meditation pendant. Every stone is faceted so that it catches the light and no too beads are exactly alike, which gives the necklace a unique feel.
I also chose these stones for the meanings behind them. Moonstone is a stone of protection and brings hope. Labradorite increases self-awareness and Pyrite promotes good health and emotional wellbeing.
This necklace is one of my favorites. I love the meaning behind the stones, the versatility of the way it can be worn (long or doubled) and also the simple elegance of the color combination.
