One of the things I’m working on in my life is better work-life balance. Up until earlier this Spring, running Molly Jane Designs was a one-woman show and my professional and personal life felt upside down, in terms of priorities.
Getting a business off the ground is not for the faint of heart. I feel like I’m continually learning something new about myself, about what is means to be a business owner and pretty much every category of life in between. I’m learning to take more breaks for myself and if anything has really caused me to do this, it has been because of the amazing gift of my first pregnancy.
I am expecting my first little nugget at the beginning of January and in the desire of wanting to stay on top of every project, gear up for the fall and holiday season, and also prepare myself for motherhood, my to-do list has felt like it has continued to grow and grow. So I started taking mini breaks. It seems counter intuitive to say that, but for me having a mental break a few times a week has actually been a wonderful thing. I feel more energized, more focused, and more at peace.
So this past week I decided to take a break and grab coffee at the beautiful Star Provisions on the Westside of Atlanta. Between the gorgeous boutiques and and unique restaurants it was easy to relax, grab a cup of iced coffee and soak in some Vitamin D.
